Andrea Hopkins is a Program Coordinator at the Council of Canadian Academies.
Andrea arrives at the Council of Canadian Academies with a wealth of knowledge in Canadian political systems and public policy research. She has authored more than half a dozen research and analysis seminar papers at the graduate level and has presented two of her papers at peer academic conferences.
Andrea’s non-academic career has involved several positions within the Government of Canada, with a focus on writing projects and logistical support for high-level meetings. She is also very active with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada, and will serve as the Honourary Chair for the 2012 Heel’n’Wheel-a-thon in Toronto.
Andrea holds a B.Soc.Sci (Hon) from the University of Ottawa, where she studied Political Science and Global Studies. Andrea has completed the seminar work for her MA from York University and anticipates completing her major research paper by December 2011. Her main research interests involve the application of a critical lens on the intersections of surveillance and intervention in the security of the body. Andrea was assigned to the prestigious York Centre for International Security Studies (YCISS) for her graduate assistantship, where she remains an affiliated researcher
